SA Seafood Express, a prominent seafood transportation company under the leadership of Director Ricky Mezic, has been a loyal customer of Linde Material Handling for almost a decade.

SA Seafood Express recently renewed their commitment to Linde by leasing three new long-term rental units for the next five years. Their fleet includes a customised freezer-spec R14 Reach Truck, and two T16 Pallet Trucks, as well as a fully purchased reconditioned Baoli KBG25 Forklift. The R14 unit, specifically built for container entry, fits perfectly within their freezer applications, offering ease of access in tight spaces.

Raised in a family deeply rooted in professional fishing, Mezic began his career as a fisherman, hauling and delivering fish to local markets. Driven by ambition and opportunity, Mezic founded SA Seafood Express.

Since its inception, SA Seafood Express has become a crucial link for both fishers and fishmongers, offering reliable logistics services from primary producers to fish markets and supermarkets, as well as cold storage transfers. The company transports seafood from regional South Australia to major markets in various locations including Port Lincoln, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and everywhere in between. Their commitment to quality service has enabled them to expand into broader refrigerated food transport with SA Food Express.

Mezic shares insight into their operations and experience with Linde’s equipment.

Unwavering performance in harsh conditions

Operating in a corrosive environment with salt and water, the durability of Linde equipment is vital. Mezic emphasised, “Water and salt don’t mix well with metal, which is why the regular service and maintenance that comes with our rental is essential. We constantly use the equipment, especially in our cold storage freezer, for about 3-4 hours a day so it’s essential that it is kept well-maintained. We have never had a problem with the Linde brand,” he states. The R14 reach truck, in particular, plays a crucial role in their operations. “We rely on the reach truck for seafood and frozen foods storage and picking order every day. Without it, we would be in a lot of trouble.”.

SA Seafood Express also benefits from additional safety features like the Linde BlueSpot safety solution. “The BlueSpot feature is excellent for safety – it warns the operators of obstacles, whether it is a wall or someone moving around. It enhances our overall safety,” Mezic notes.

With Linde’s exceptional service and support, it’s no wonder SA Seafood Express has had a positive experience with the Linde team. Mezic expresses his satisfaction with Linde’s service, particularly highlighting Jamie Thompson, Linde Territory Manager, and Aaron Crosby, Linde Field Service Technician. “Jamie has been great. As soon as I call him, he is always ready to help and ensures we get the equipment we need while keeping costs down.”

The reliable performance and dedicated service from Linde have impacted SA Seafood Express’s operations efficiently. “The new equipment is more stable and comfortable to operate, making our operations more efficient than before,” Mezic concludes. SA Seafood Express continues to thrive with Linde’s robust and reliable equipment, ensuring their product reaches its destination fresh and on time.
