The annual Metcash Expo showcases innovative products and services in the retail industry. The event is a great opportunity for business owners, like Leigh from Randall’s Foodworks, to explore new products and solutions that could help them improve their stock and operations.
Leigh’s store serves the locals of the small Victorian town of Wedderburn and its surrounds, and he and his team take pride in providing their customers with the very best products and service. And this is why Leigh made the trip up north to the Gold Coast last year for the Metcash Expo, where he unexpectedly discovered the Linde MV01 Order Picker.
In 2022, for the first time, Linde Material Handling Australia attended the Metcash Expo as an exhibitor. With a stand showcasing a range of Linde and Baoli equipment, it was the MV01 that caught Leigh’s attention, having considered similar machines in the past.
“The steel construction and the whole control of the MV01 – it looked like a better build and machine than others.” Leigh’s first impression of the order picker.
Having now used it for a few months he offered further insights, “The steering is excellent, and the gate doesn’t open until you’re all the way down which is a nice safety feature.”
The Linde MVO1 Order Picker has exceeded Leigh and the Randall’s Foodworks team’s expectations by improving their efficiency, safety, and morale. Initially, they invested in the MV01, which they affectionately call “Lindy”, to replace ladders, as safety was a top concern, but they soon found that it was capable of much more.
“Our reliance on the ladder is nowhere near what it once was. Lindy is now used every day.”
Its compact size and manoeuvrability make it perfect for a wide range of tasks, and its safety features give the Randall’s team peace of mind while using it.
“Previously we might have had to use our walkie stacker for smaller jobs which not a lot of the team weren’t comfortable with. Most people in the store are comfortable using Lindy, so now it’s so much safer and quicker. It’s fantastic really.”
But it’s probably the tasks that Leigh didn’t expect the MV01 Order Picker would help with that have left the biggest impression.
“We use it way more than I expected for many more things than we thought we would.”
Leigh shared a few of the unexpected ways Lindy has come in handy.
“We’re renovating the store at the moment, and we’ve been using it to paint. And our tradesmen have been using it too. Some jobs where they’d usually need two people, with Lindy they could get it done with one.”
Along with the renovations, Lindy is also proving her worth by making regular jobs, like changing air-conditioner filters and cleaning cobwebs, a breeze!
