Rising labour costs, demand for higher throughput, and tightening profit margins are driving organisations to explore automation across a wider range of business activities – and materials handling is high on the list.

Especially for routine, repetitive operations, automation ensures improved goods handling times and better reliability, while helping to minimise personal injury and damage to goods and infrastructure.

Linde Automation

As a leading material handling innovator, at Linde Material Handling we apply our comprehensive understanding of intralogistics to analyse individual process steps and broader material flows to identify automation opportunities.

For Linde, the goal of automation is always to maximise efficiency gains – a philosophy applied to our own range of automated trucks as well as our integration with partner solutions.

We’ve developed a range of standardised solution packages that offer companies from various industries a cost-effective, scalable way to enter the world of automated logistics processes.

More than just an equipment supplier, at Linde we analyse our customers’ individual processes and challenges to determine how automation can be successfully applied. As part of the process, our specialists assist with the planning, implementation, and commissioning of any automated warehouse solution, applying the experience gained through hundreds of successful projects worldwide.

Automation solutions: Linde Robotics

Linde’s automation solutions begin with reliable, proven standard vehicles in our series production range. This approach offers two major benefits: firstly, the equipment can be switched back to manual mode when required; and secondly, standard maintenance and repair procedures ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Linde’s MATIC range combines tried-and-tested material handling performance with advanced navigation technology.

This navigation technology does not require permanently installed infrastructure such as guide rails or mirrors. Instead, geosteering technology allows MATIC models to be easily integrated into existing warehouses or production environments.

Optical sensors scan the truck’s surroundings in all directions, while a truck-mounted 3D camera simultaneously captures the immediate environment. The data from both recording systems is processed centrally, enabling both accurate navigation through the facility and coordination with other automated trucks. This ensures that the MATIC models operate safely even in confined spaces.

Linde’s technology incorporates all the interfaces necessary to seamlessly integrate our automated solutions into any existing operational processes. The supervisory software controls the robotised fleet in real time and can interact directly with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems or WMS (Warehouse Management System) applications.

Compared to other driverless systems or standard vehicles, MATIC machines offer lower installation costs, lower operating costs, and increased flexibility.

Linde MATIC Range

With stackers, pallet trucks, counterbalanced trucks and a highly functional narrow aisle vehicle, the automated MATIC range covers 80% of handling tasks in production and warehouse logistics.

All trucks in the MATIC series can be fitted with optional features and tailored to specific applications. They can be equipped with different drive and lifting motors, various battery sizes, hydraulically adjustable forks, electronically authenticated battery locks, and programmable mast height restrictions.

Automating the future

Automation is a well-proven and robust solution in the material handling industry - probably more so than many other industries. There are already automated materials handling operations across a wide variety of applications and industries in facilities throughout Australia and globally – including retail distribution, beverage, FMCG, 3PL, secure storage, manufacturing, e-Commerce, and many more.

It makes sense, therefore, to include automation in any industry’s future planning and Linde has the expertise, experience and solutions to support seamless transitions towards more efficient, safer and cost-effective materials handling.
