Linde strengthens its focus on workplace wellbeing with Healthy Heads
Supporting mental health and wellbeing at work starts with open conversations, practical support and making sure people feel comfortable speaking up.
On 6 August, representatives from Linde Material Handling Australia attended the Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds Corporate Partner Event, joining businesses from across the transport, warehousing and logistics industries to talk about the challenges employees face and how organisations can better support their people.
For Linde representatives Kristian Swart, Alex Leon and Rachael McPherson, the event was an opportunity to learn more about the work Healthy Heads is doing, hear directly from people with lived experience and consider how Linde can continue strengthening mental health awareness and support across the business.
Turning awareness into meaningful support
One of the strongest messages Linde’s team took away from the event was the importance of creating workplaces where people feel comfortable speaking up and looking out for one another.
For Kristian, Head of STR Used Trucks & Sales Operations, it reinforced how much can sit beneath the surface in any workplace.
“People are carrying more than we often realise. A simple conversation, checking in on a mate, or creating an environment where people feel safe to speak up can genuinely change someone’s day, and sometimes much more than that,” he said.
Alex, Head of Key Accounts & Business Development, said the event also highlighted that workplace mental health cannot be viewed solely as an individual responsibility.
“The most valuable takeaway was the reminder that mental health is not just an individual responsibility but a collective one,” he said. “It reinforced the importance of creating workplace environments where people feel supported, connected and comfortable seeking help when they need it.”
For Linde, this is particularly important across a workforce and customer base closely connected to warehousing, transport and logistics, where many people work in operational and frontline roles.
Hearing the stories behind the statistics
The personal stories shared during the event stood out strongly for Linde’s attendees.
Rather than focusing only on statistics, hearing directly from people about their experiences helped bring the topic to life and showed why simply listening can be so important.
“The personal stories were the most impactful,” Rachael, Senior Director HR, said. “First-hand accounts cut through statistics and policy talk — they humanise the issue, stick with you, and motivate action.”
Kristian shared a similar view, saying the stories were a reminder that mental health affects everyone differently and that understanding often starts with listening.
Building on Linde’s partnership
As a Corporate Partner of Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds, Linde supports the organisation’s work to improve mental health and wellbeing across the transport, warehousing and logistics industries.
The event gave the Linde team a better understanding of how that partnership can go beyond awareness and create more opportunities to support employees.
“Being a Corporate Partner is more than having a logo on a website,” Kristian said. “It gives organisations the opportunity to be part of important conversations, learn from others, and help create workplaces where people feel supported both professionally and personally.”
Rachael said the event also showed the value of working alongside other businesses that share the same goal.
Bringing the conversation closer to our people
Looking ahead, Linde’s attendees identified opportunities to build on the partnership by making mental health conversations and resources even more accessible to employees.
This could include more roadshows, workshops, Q&A sessions, awareness campaigns and practical resources that give people more opportunities to learn, ask questions and access support.
“There’s a clear opportunity to expand the roadshows and increase direct contact between Healthy Heads and our employees,” Rachael said.
For Kristian, keeping the support simple and practical will be key.
“The more we can share practical tools, real experiences and simple ways to support each other, the greater impact we’ll have across our workplaces.”
Linde’s participation in the event reinforced the importance of continuing to listen, learn and keep mental health part of the conversation.
Through our ongoing partnership with Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds, Linde will continue looking for practical ways to support the wellbeing of our employees and contribute to healthier workplaces across the industry.
